Sofia Navarrete Zur

Sofia Zur grew up in a cross cultural environment across Mexico and the US. Her upbringing, exposure to varied cultures and people, and her personal diaspora experience, inspired her drive to explore the human experience through storytelling.

Since graduating from Wesleyan University with a degree in Cultural Anthropology and Film Studies, her burgeoning career exploring the intersections of humanitarian aid and media, has given her the opportunity to take on projects for The International Rescue Committee, the Zolberg Institute, and the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.

Sofia is currently based in New York City pursuing a Masters in International Affairs at The New School where she is the second recipient of the Bishwanath and Sandhya Sinha Memorial Fellowship in Media Studies, and is developing her debut feature documentary film, Soledad.
